In July 2014, Charles B. collapsed and was rushed to South Nassau’s emergency room. While in the ER, his wife was informed that he needed emergency surgery to repair a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm. He was bleeding internally and was given a 5 percent chance of survival.
