Surgical Simulations

Dear Applicants,

Surgical Simulations are now an integral part of General Surgery training. At Mount Sinai South Nassau, we provide a well-rounded simulation experience utilizing both wet and dry labs.

The Mount Sinai South Nassau Simulation Center provides an opportunity to perfect bedside procedure skills, as well as the required Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) and Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery (FES) skills in a quiet and relaxed environment. The Simulation center is accessible 24 hours a day to the residents.

In addition, human cadavers are made available to the residents for simulated laparoscopic procedures, open major and minor procedures in both general surgery and subspecialties. Residents use real operating room instruments, laparoscopic towers, energy and stapling devices provided by our industry partners. The sessions are proctored by practicing attending surgeons. This relaxed environment has been most exciting and rewarding to our residents.

Our simulation program provides a relaxed, fun, unhurried environment to practice over and over, until proficiency.
