South Nassau Chief of Ophthalmology Named to New York’s Top Doctors Guide
Prominent ophthalmologist Richard Nauheim, MD, has been selected for inclusion in the 15th edition of Top Doctors: New York Metro Area. Published by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., the acclaimed guide spotlights the top 10 percent of primary care and specialty care physicians in the tri-state New York area.
Dr. Nauheim is listed in the “Ophthalmology” section of the Castle Connolly guide. Doctors listed in its Top Doctors series of guides are selected after peer nomination, extensive research and careful review and screening. The Castle Connolly physician-led research team reviews the medical education, training, hospital appointments, disciplinary history and more of each nominee. Doctors do not and can not pay to be included in a Castle Connolly guide or list.
The honor comes just weeks after the Consumers’ Research Council of America named Dr. Nauheim, South Nassau’s chief of ophthalmology, to its “Guide to America’s Top Ophthalmologists” for the third consecutive year.
Dr. Nauheim specializes in treating problems such as double vision, optic nerve disorders, visual/eye movement disorders, cataracts, diseases of the retina, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and macular degeneration. Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Nauheim is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at S.U.N.Y Stony Brook School of Medicine. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University and medical degree from S.U.N.Y. Buffalo School of Medicine. In 1984, he completed an internship at The Long Island College Hospital and residency training at Nassau University Medical Center in 1988.
